The company, which was founded by Max K. Arheit in 1968, specialised in its early days in protecting new buildings against dampness and sealant of construction joints. Within a few years it rapidly developed into the leading dampproofing enterprise of the Technology-Region Karlsruhe
Since 1970 it expanded its area of work to more sophisticated and challenging tasks.

In 1980 the company went international and since carried out work in France, Romania, Cech Republic, Switzerland, Egypt and Kuweitt.
In 1987, Arheit Abdichtungs- und Bautenschutz Ltd. founded a sister company for building products to ensure a continuous and acceptable standard of supply to meet the required level of quality. ABV Spezialbaustoffe Ltd. ensures this level on a German and European building material market for high quality products.

ABV Spezialbaustoffe also carries out work as a consultant for medium-sized companies that operate in areas of Project Management, Concrete Technology, Environmental and Energy Management, Preservation of Old Buildings and Marine Installations. It develops Technology Procedures, does Projections, brokers, sells and offers service. Furthermore, it conducts its business in all areas that are beneficial to its trade and not prohibited by law. Especially regarding Licencing, Trademarking, Distribution and Securing of Rights.
